More news from around the college

Campus cleared out when students went home for the summer, but it’s still been a productive time for the College of Engineering, Computing and Applied Sciences. Here’s a round-up of other stories of interest:
Anand Gramopadhye

From the Dean

August is always an exciting time on campus. At the beginning of the month 219 College of Engineering, Computing and Applied Sciences graduates walked across the Littlejohn Coliseum stage, and marched out to make the world a better place. Later in the month upperclassmen returned and our freshmen arrived to begin their undergraduate careers. Over 1,000 of them attended our second annual CECAS Recess, where they met their classmates and discovered how they can take advantage of all the college offers through its academic and research enterprises.
It is always a treat to welcome back returning faculty and staff. These folks are critical to making the Clemson Experience all it can be.
We also kicked off the academic year with the induction of two new endowed chairs. Amy Apon and Mark Johnson will be advancing the state of the art in computing and sustainable development.
A new semester is filled with an energetic optimism that fuels our desire for success. That is true for our students, faculty and staff, as well as alumni and friends of the college. We hope that all of you will join us for the Homecoming Tailgate on Oct. 26 to celebrate the start of the semester.
As always, we appreciate your feedback and support. Let’s all work together to make the 2019-20 academic year the best ever. Go Tigers!
