New Proper Prescribing Course Available
The new course satisfies the Tennessee Board of Medical Examiners’ requirement of 2 CME hours in prescribing.

According to state law, if you are renewing your Tennessee medical license in 2017, then you are required to have completed two hours of prescribing CME during the calendar years 2015 or 2016. If your license does not expire in 2017, then the Dec. 31 deadline does not apply to you.

This program is for physicians who are licensed to prescribe drugs. Participants will engage in a comprehensive review of Tennessee’s efforts to combat prescription drug over-use. You will also gain an understanding of how to prevent prescription drug abuse among women and protect babies from Neonatal Abstinence Syndrome as well as an outline on evidence-based approach to: “Marijuana as Medicine.”

NAM member, Roland Gray, MD, is the feature presenter with special guest Tommy Farmer.

TMA Grassroots Opportunities
Doctor of the Day program: Volunteers spend one day at the General Assembly giving back to public servants. Members have the unique opportunity to serve the medical needs of legislators and their staff while getting a first-hand look at the legislative process. Residents are welcome to serve along side practicing physicians as Resident Doctor of the Day.
Mobile Advocate: This emergency call-to-action text alert system is an opt-in system providing timely call-to-action alerts via text message on your mobile device. This will be used only in very specific circumstances, such as the last day of session when Provider Stability legislation comes out of conference committee and we need to secure a handful of pivotal votes.
Day on the Hill: Join NAM and other members from TMA on Tuesday, March 7, 2017 for the annual policy briefing and lobby day in Nashville connecting physicians face-to-face with lawmakers so physicians can advocate for their patients and discuss major issues affecting the medical profession in Tennessee.
