YVIC Recruitment
We are gearing up for year 2 of YVIC! Last year was a complete success our students worked hard from January through the summer, and did some amazing work covering topics of Mental Health, Substance Abuse, Teen Pregnacny, Homelessness, and Gang Violence.
Do you know a teenager(s) from the ages 13-18 that needs a safe place to express their thoughts with like-minded peers? Do you know any teenagers that want to voice their opinions about the current climate our nation is in? Do you know any teenagers that would like to build their research skills to explore how to respond to some of those issues, artistically? Join Youth Voices Impact Change!

The Youth Voices Impact Change (YVIC) Project, funded in part by Arkansas Arts Council and Simmons Bank, engages youth, ages 13-18, in lending their voices and creative expressions to social concerns through the development of youth-produced, multimedia projects and mixed artworks that address community issues. This project will include a filmed Talk Show that will capture interviews with local artists and special guests, footage of teens' involvement with the "Let Your Art Speak" Creative Artistic Sessions, focus group sessions with other teens, and live performances.  Teenagers who participate in this project will be able to:
  • Increase research building skills when conducting Descriptive Research.
  • Add to their communication and presentation tool box when reporting on research findings.
  • Gain knowledge about the current climate of their community as it relates to social issues such as mental health, gun violence, teen pregnancy, substance abuse,  education equity, poverty, and homelessness.
  • Have access to a Master-level social worker who will lead the Youth Empowerment Sessions and provide resources in coping with concerns related to the topics and social issues that youth will focus on.
  • Creatively and artistically articulate their relationship or thoughts around the social issue topics.
  • Engage in production activities that can boost technology skills.
  • Generate a viable resume-building activity to add to a high school portfolio.
  • Build community references through the Brandon House for future letters of recommendation.
  • Build and network with other teenagers who desire to have their voices heard.
You like what you see? Come join us.  Youth Voices Impact Change will begin Saturday September 11, 2021 from 1-6 p.m. Please remember that at every meeting, food will be provided. Temperatures will be checked during entry and face masks MUST be worn at all times. Youth Voices Impact Change meets bi-weekly on Saturdays at Brandon House, 3802 West 12th Street, Little Rock, AR. Click Here to join!

Arts Over Tobacco is a tobacco prevention program funded by the Minority Initiative Sub-Recipient Grant Office (MISRGO) at the University of Arkansas Pine Bluff in effort to provide youth and young adults with alternatives to tobacco use and unhealthy behaviors. We are spread over seven counties including Faulkner, Garland, Hot Spring, Jefferson, Lonoke, Saline, and Pulaski!
We want to share opportunities, resources, and support with youth and young adults to overcome any pressures or desires to use tobacco and other drugs and encourage them to participate in creative and performing arts activities as alternatives.
One of Brandon House’s primary ways that we engage our youth (12-18 years old) in this program is through participation in our Street Team! We encourage the youth to use step, dance, and other art forms to channel their knowledge and thoughts on tobacco use and methods for prevention and committing to quit.
The Street Team goes out into the streets of our city to impact other youth and use their talents to make connections and make a difference, and we want your teen to be a part!

Health & Wellness Educators?
WE HAVE WORKSHOPS FOR YOUR STUDENTS!!!
Over the past few years, we have been conducting our "Know The Truth" presentation in schools educating and mobilizing minority communities in Faulkner, Garland, Hot Spring, Jefferson, Lonoke, Saline, and Pulaski County about the harmful effects of tobacco.

We would love to come out and talk with your students.  We can do a presentation in a classroom or present virtually via Zoom; if you do choose the in person option you should note that we have a display that we put up showing damaged lungs as we use this during our discussion, we would like a space that allows us to be stationary and have the students come to the particular classroom so that we do not have to take the display down and move to each classroom.

Please visit our website which will give you more information about Brandon House’s Arts Over Tobacco program and feel free to search our website further to view our other offered programs and services as a whole.  We are hopeful you share our desire to see our youth remain tobacco free and hope you will allow us to visit your school to present to the students.

Thanking you in advance for iterest in aiding your students in knowing the truth. Please direct questions and inquiries to artsovertobacco@brandonhousearts.org if you are interested!

We are still accepting submissions for participation for Go Live! Last summer we created Go Live: Create Soul Sessions as a way to support Arkansas artists and musicians who were hindred by COVID-19. Despite the limitations of COVID, with venues closing and rare opportunities for performing live, Brandon House was able to provide a platform for Arkansas-based artists with original music to showcase and promote their craft. Brandon House successfully filmed 10 episodes of live perfomances and artist interviews reaching over 5,000 viewers across digital platforms like Facebook, Instagram TV and Youtube.
Artists that participate in Go Live are offered any combination of the following services:
  • An Electronic Press Kit (3 page minimum)
  • 30 second - 1 minute Promo Video
  • 1 Virtual Copy of the full-length episode that includes artist interview
  • 1 Virtual Flyer to promote Artist Go-Live episode
We are gearing up for Season 2 and we are so very excited for you to enjoy the artist lineup.
