2017 President's Reception was a success!

Members attended the 2017 President's Reception to install Ralph Atkinson, MD, as 2017 Academy President. We honored NAM's 2016 outgoing board members and our 2017 officers. We also honored physicians who have been practicing medicine for 50 years, and celebrated a unique milestone of surpassing 2,100 members in 2016! Thank you to Bone McAllester Norton, PLLC for hosting our event.

Day on the Hill with TMA is Tuesday, March 7.
Join your fellow physicians for Day on the Hill at Legislative Plaza in Nashville. Make sure your voice is heard by lawmakers who influence the practice of medicine in Tennessee.

This is a FREE event open to all physicians, medical students, and practice administrators. If you only have two hours, join us anytime between 9 a.m. - 1 p.m., as we will have appointments throughout the day and a luncheon in the middle.
The Nashville Academy has scheduled appointments with our local legislators. Your online registration helps us plan for these appointments.

February is Quittin' Time!

Quittin' Time Week is February 13 to 17 and partners around the state are gearing up for a focused effort to help Tennesseans quit using tobacco.

The ramifications are endless: did you know that a smoker who quits starts to feel healthier within days? With our city's adult smoking rate at 21% - a far cry from the CDC's goal level of 12% - we have so much ground to cover in moving that statistic and, most importantly, helping our citizens live longer, healthier lives with their families.

Click here to visit the Metro Nashville Health Department's resources for smoking cessation.

As always, the Tennessee Tobacco Quitline is open via phone and 24/7 online.  A wide array of resources, tips and ideas are there - including a calculator that shows how much money a smoker can save by quitting! Share the Tennessee Tobacco Quitline with your patients: 1-800-QUIT-NOW (1-800-784-8669)
