Hockaday Highlights

I enjoyed meeting many of you at the Middle and Upper School Parent Visit this week and look forward to opportunities to gather at upcoming events. We welcome the whole family to enjoy a glimpse of Hockaday together at our Middle and Upper School Admission Preview on Sunday, October 21. We will have interactive break-out sessions, campus tours, and time to talk with faculty, coaches, and students. We also have a Lower School Parent Visit on October 28 where parents who are unable to join us on a weekday morning can experience a similar program including time to visit with our Lower School teachers.
I hope you enjoy learning about what has been happening at Hockaday as much as we love experiencing it. Our girls have been making positive impacts and shining in the halls, on the fields, on the stage, and out in the city of Dallas. Recently, the Model UN Club hosted roundtable discussions about The Rohingya Crisis, the Lower School students participated in the Food Waste Challenge as one of the first all-Lower School initiatives for Hockaday’s Institute for Social Impact, Third Graders tested predictions (view video here) about their homemade helicopters, the Middle School Robotics team created new prototypes, and the Upper Schoolers enjoyed a visiting Novelist Jessica Blau who co-taught a writing class in Upper School and stayed for lunch and informal conversation with the girls. Additionally, our Crew team has been out on the water and traveling to regattas around Texas, our Honors Neuroscience class recently created a 3-D and 2-D "Neuron Pop-Up" show which was installed in the Ann Bower '67 Gallery, Upper School musical tryouts have ended, and the girls are about to enjoy Fall Break!
We encourage you to visit our campus this fall or winter so that you can experience Hockaday first hand. Please visit our website, www.hockaday.org, for school news and admission information and events. We look forward to getting to know you and your family.
All my best,
Maryanna Phipps
