Week 1 COVID-19 testing — required of all students, faculty, and staff who are on campus for any reason during spring 2021 — is wrapping up. As of last night, 1,788 students, faculty, and staff have been tested on campus, with 7 positive cases, which is a positivity rate of less than one-half of one percent.
If you haven’t been tested, see Surveillance Testing and act fast. This is required and part of your responsibility for supporting public health protocols on campus. Otherwise you will get a red badge on Nazareth’s daily COVID-19 screening online, your NazCard ID will be temporarily deactivated, and you are not permitted on campus. If you have a question not answered on that webpage, use the form there to send it in.
Week 2 and beyond: The next phase will test a randomly selected portion of the campus community each week. Check your email each Thursday to see if you’ve been chosen for testing on the following Monday/Tuesday. More details are under “Week 2” on Surveillance Testing.
As always, anyone with symptoms or close contact with someone who tests positive follows a different protocol that starts with filling out your Nazareth online screening and following the instructions. (If you filled it out earlier in the day, you can re-do it.)
COVID alert level
Our campus’ current COVID-19 alert level remains at 2, which indicates modified campus operations due to case levels in the area around campus.
Let’s keep inspiring each other as we adapt to the reality of our pandemic time while also looking to the future. Here are some of the responses to President Paul’s recent email inviting 6-word stories of hopes for how we will emerge in 2021:
Pushed aside, we fight back harder — Claire Kubinski, student
Bold and steadfast to our commitments — Aldi Priyanto, alum and staff
Experiencing new beginnings with renewed strength — Clara Marchese, faculty
