In 2018, David Meoli, MD, PhD, took over as primary course director for ISC: Cardiovascular Disease. Since then, he’s taken on AI: Critical Care, VAH and also co-directs FMK’s Homeostasis.
“Being involved with courses in all years of the curriculum, I love seeing students’ amazing personal and professional development from the beginning

| of FMK through the end of Immersion Phase,” he states.
Dr. Meoli is an assistant professor of medicine in the Division of Cardiovascular Medicine. His PhD is in Pharmacology and Physiology. “I chose cardiology due to a love for cardiovascular physiology and evidence-based medicine. I also appreciate the variety of career activities the field affords; in a given week I see patients in clinic, read transthoracic echocardiograms, perform transesophageal echocardiograms, read ECGs, and teach residents and fellows. Intermittently, I do inpatient service in the cardiac ICU and consult service.”
Dr. Meoli has been at Vanderbilt since he started his residency in 2013.

Starting in July 2023, VUSM has a new communication policy that pertains to students on their FLEX months. If you are unable to check your email daily, you must enable automatic, out-of-office notifications. Additionally, you remain responsible for completing any tasks regarding upcoming coursework and/or required activities, so you need to check your email weekly, at a minimum.
