Sixty & Better Launches Walk With A Doc program.
The first Walk With A Doc program launched at the Como Community Center in June 2023, and this month we are excited to announce the launch of our second location at East Arlington Library and Recreation Center. Monthly walks, led by medical professionals begin with a brief presentation followed by a self-paced walk for informal Q & A with the medical professional, exercise and socialization with their peers. Walk sites are accessible for older adults of all mobility levels with canes, walkers, and volunteers to assist with wheelchairs as needed. The program is open to all residents of Tarrant County. Additional information can be found on our website at www.SixtyandBetter.org with registration through Jaime Harton at jharton@sixtyandbetter.org and (817) 413-4949 ext. 211.

Embracing Life: Community Dances
We are thrilled to share with you the incredible success of our recent prom event, where we witnessed the magic of joy, interaction, and healthy living among our cherished older adults. At Sixty & Better, we believe that age is just a number, and every stage of life deserves to be celebrated with enthusiasm and vitality. Our prom night was a shining example of this philosophy, as our beloved older adults enjoyed time filled with laughter, dancing, and unforgettable memories.

A Matter of Balance: Ms. Cheryl's Story |
Ms. Cheryl was a participant in Sixty & Better’s A Matter of Balance class at the recommendation of her physician. Since experiencing a fall last October, she was struggling to regain confidence in her mobility and feelings of guilt associated with having to depend on others for things she used to be able to do for herself. During the first class, Ms. Cheryl shared that her goal for the course was to be able to collect her mail from her mailbox at the end of her driveway. A neighbor had taken on this task for her. The first few classes were difficult for Ms. Cheryl, but as her strength increased, she began standing for the exercises more and more.
Towards the end of the course, Ms. Cheryl practically ran into the classroom, waiving her mail which she had just collected from her mailbox. This may seem like a small victory for many, but Ms. Cheryl’s participation in Sixty & Better’s 8-week A Matter of Balance class helped her regain her confidence in her ability to care for herself and once again live independently.
