I hope you're enjoying the longer, warmer days of summer and finding time to recharge. Whether you're spending time at the beach or pool, away with family and friends, or simply relaxing with a good book or watching your favorite series, I hope you're able to take advantage of the season and all it has to offer.

As we begin looking ahead to the start of a new academic year, I invite you to join us for Faculty Convocation on Friday, September 18, 2026, at 3 p.m. in the University Center Event Room. A reception will follow immediately afterward in Bethany Hall.

Faculty Convocation is one of our cherished traditions and a great opportunity to come together as a university community at the start of the semester. We will warmly welcome our newest faculty members while celebrating the accomplishments of colleagues being recognized for promotion and tenure, merit and completion of the ACUE Advanced Practices Teaching Program. It is a meaningful occasion to honor excellence, reconnect with one another, and begin the new academic year with tradition and a shared sense of purpose and excitement.

As part of the appraisal process, all employees were required to complete a Self-Review by July 1, 2026. Employees with direct reports will be assigned Manager Reviews to complete by August 30, 2026. Note that the final Sign-Off step is a required part of the process for both employees and supervisors. Appraisals are not considered complete until all sign-offs have been submitted.

Safe Space training is an initiative designed to provide awareness training on LGBTQIA+ for Seton Hall faculty, staff and administrators. These interactive sessions, offered in collaboration with a committee comprised of faculty, staff and administrators, aim to create a more inclusive and supportive campus environment. The training will provide participants with tools to promote allyship and inclusivity within the Seton Hall community. View more and register.

The Idea Hall “Global Women’s Health Innovation Through Cross-Cultural Service-Learning Initiative” supported an innovative School of Diplomacy and International Relations project that gave students hands-on experience addressing global health, peacebuilding and intercultural challenges. Through workshops, collaboration with international partners and an innovation hackathon, students applied classroom learning to real-world issues while building valuable professional skills. Off-Campus Access to University Libraries Resources

With the Summer break at hand, accessibility to databases including new ones – such as NewsBank, with collections of the Newark Star-Ledger from 1945-1989 and 1989-present – hosted by the University Libraries is a constant off-campus option for our entire research community.

When you access our Databases interface page, you will be prompted to sign-in with your current Seton Hall University PirateNet ID and Password. For additional information on our resource tools, please feel free to contact the University Libraries via e-mail.

Upcoming Technology Workshops 
The TLTC Summer 2026 Productivity Series continues with workshops designed to help faculty and staff strengthen workplace technology and digital productivity skills. All sessions are held from 10 to 11:30 a.m. in the Innovation Hub Exploration Studio.

Create Engaging Videos with the Lightboard 
There's still time to join the Lightboard Summer Series. The remaining sessions on July 16 and July 23 explore how to create engaging instructional videos and presentations using Lightboard technology. Schedule Canvas Announcements in Advance

Sabbatical Acknowledgement Form
The Office of the Provost is delighted to announce the 2026-27 Sabbatical Application Process. Submit the Sabbatical Acknowledgement Form by August 12 to indicate that you are anticipating submitting a Sabbatical Application. Based on the information provided, you will be sent the link to the application in Faculty Success. The call for applications is still open for the Academies and Idea Hall initiatives through September 10, 2026. These programs provide seed funding to support innovative, high-impact projects that advance our academic mission and strengthen the student experience. As part of Seton Hall University's ongoing commitment to accreditation and continuous improvement, and in accordance with recommendations from our Middle States review, the University is maintaining a centralized record of faculty curriculum vitae (CVs).

We kindly ask all faculty members to upload their most current CV to Faculty Success at their earliest convenience. Maintaining up-to-date CVs helps support accreditation efforts, institutional reporting, and the accurate representation of faculty accomplishments.

All faculty and staff traveling internationally on behalf of Seton Hall University are asked to complete the University's International Travel Reporting Form through the Office of Business Affairs. Submission is mandatory for insurance purposes (please submit prior to departure). Complete the form.
