Her father, Georgia Tech Class of 1934 Distinguished Regents’ Professor, Dimitri Mavris was on stage as part of the faculty — and as the proud parent of a brand-new biomedical engineering Ph.D. graduate.

Vishal Srinivas Acharya Named ASME Fellow
The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) has named Vishal Srinivas Acharya, principal research engineer, as an ASME Fellow.
It is a distinguished level in ASME for those who have made significant contributions to engineering with at least 10 years of active practice.
Acharya is the associate director for combustion modeling research operations in the Ben T. Zinn Combustion Lab. At the Lab, he directs modeling and simulations-based research operations on a wide range of unsteady combustion problems in power generation, propulsion, advanced/future tech.

| Stef Crum and Will Sherman Make the Forbes 30 Under 30
Stef Crum, AE 18, M.S. AE 19, and Will Sherman, MS AE 23 made the Forbes 2026 30 for 30 list under the transportation and aerospace category. The dynamic duo are co-founders of Reditus Space; a manufacturing company that provides sustainable and scalable microgravity access as a service, enabling advanced material processing and in-space manufacturing through end-to-end launch, orbital operations, and controlled reentry solutions.
They founded the company in 2024.

| AE Student Receives an Open Lunar Foundation Fellowship
AE Ph.D. student Vic Paulson was awarded the Open Lunar Foundation Fellowship.
This fellowship combines research in space technology, science, ecosystem strategy, and policy, turning early ideas into practical solutions. Fellows collaborate closely with our core team to drive Open Lunar’s mission—creating a cooperative and sustainable future on the Moon.

Airspeeder wants to start Team USA at Georgia tech for their flying car racing series. They are hoping to get to F1 SAE style competition for now it will be all national teams designing bodywork with full funding support. See the attached slides for more information.
