Dear Faculty, Administrators and Staff,
I hope this message finds you well. I am delighted to share that today marks the culmination of our 2024 Commencement Celebrations.
Throughout the week, we have been immersed in a whirlwind of anticipation and excitement. It all began with the graduate hooding ceremonies last week, where we witnessed the culmination of years of hard work and dedication. The Mass of Celebration further strengthened our sense of community and shared purpose, reminding us of the profound significance of this milestone in our students' lives.

The President's Reception provided a wonderful opportunity for us to come together, celebrate achievements, and forge lasting connections. And today, we concluded our festivities with the Baccalaureate Commencement Celebration, a momentous occasion filled with joy, pride, and the promise of new beginnings.
I extend my heartfelt gratitude to each and every one of you for your contributions in making this year's commencement celebrations truly memorable. Your dedication, support, and commitment to our students have played an integral role in their journey to success.
To the Class of 2024, we extend our heartfelt congratulations and best wishes for a future filled with success, fulfillment, and endless possibilities. Remember that your alma mater will always be here to support you and celebrate your accomplishments, no matter where life may lead you.

Faculty Merit Pay Applications due to Chairs/Dean by June 10
We are pleased to continue our Faculty Merit pay process to reward faculty. Eligible faculty, excluding those in the Law School, include:
- All tenured faculty.
-
Faculty in their fifth year of full-time service holding the rank of faculty associate, senior faculty associate, clinical faculty, lecturer, or a full-time faculty position in SHMS or ICSST.
Merit awards are contingent on contract renewal for the subsequent academic year.
We will maintain the improvements to the Faculty Merit process recommended by a faculty committee two years ago. Faculty in departments without approved merit rubrics or peer review committees can apply by submitting the following to the Office of the Provost (john.buschman@shu.edu) and your Dean by August 1, 2024:
- A Digital Measures/Faculty Success report for work completed since the last promotion or merit award.
-
A short justification of merit, highlighting research, teaching, and service relative to disciplinary standards of excellence.
- Documentary evidence of relevant accomplishments (e.g., publications, grants).
We strongly encourage faculty, especially those who have not yet applied, to submit their applications. We aim to grant more awards this year and continue to enhance our efforts to reward, retain, and celebrate excellence in scholarship, teaching, and service at Seton Hall.

2024 Idea Hall Projects
The Idea Hall Initiative was created to advance the University through projects that are rooted in cross-divisional collaboration between faculty, administrators and staff members. The Office of the Provost and The Office of the President commends the community members whose projects were supported through the 2024 Call for Proposals. We look forward to seeing these projects come to fruition! Thank you to all who participated in this call for applications - click here to explore the 2024 Idea Halls.
