Center Court - The Newsletter of the Orange County Clerk of Courts
Scheduled Maintenance This Weekend
I want to inform you that our website will have some limited capabilities this coming weekend as we perform an update to our case maintenance system. Our customers will be unable to search records and pay traffic tickets on our my eClerk website, use the State of Florida Courts E-Filing portal system, or use RealAuction from Friday, July 7th at 6 p.m. to Sunday, July 9th at 6 p.m. Thank you for your patience as we work to keep our systems performing in tip-top shape.
2017 Unclaimed Checks List
Clerk Publishes 2017 Unclaimed Checks List
You may not even be aware, but my office may have money for you in the form of a check. You can find out by viewing our unclaimed checks list at www.myorangeclerk.com. If you see your name on the list, by statute you have until Sept. 1, 2017 to claim the money.
The checks listed are those that were mailed, but never cashed. Perhaps because the intended recipient moved away and did not leave a forwarding address, or put the check away and forgot about it.
Whether you’re an individual, business, or an organization, make sure to view the unclaimed checks list. Our customers are a priority. I want them to receive the money that is theirs. That is why every year we go above and beyond to spread the word about our unclaimed checks list. To see if we are holding unclaimed funds in your name, visit www.myorangeclerk.com to search the list.

New Bill Amends Confidential Information in Court Documents
I want to make everyone aware of newly enacted legislation regarding court records that will affect the filing of cases with the Clerk of the Court. House Bill 441, which became effective on July 1st, immunizes the Clerk of the Court from liability in cases where the Clerk inadvertently releases information that is confidential under the Rules of Judicial Administration, if the filer failed to identify the confidential information at the time of filing.

The rules already require a filer of any document containing confidential information to file a “Notice of Confidential Information within Court Filing,” along with the document. See Fla. R. Jud. Admin. 2.420(d)(2). The notice must indicate that either the entire document is confidential, or identify the location of the confidential information within the document being filed. The new legislation underscores the importance of this rule.

If you ever find that confidential information has not been redacted, you can always contact
us at our website at www.myorangeclerk.com. We will always work to correct any issue as quickly as possible and notify you when it has been completed.
