Two Notre Dame employees named to 2026 Michiana Forty under 40 class

Notre Dame employees Jamila Lee-Johnson and Kevin Cassidy have been named to the 2026 Michiana Forty under 40 class, an annual recognition honoring emerging leaders for their professional accomplishments and community involvement.

Fred E. Freeman Scholarship applications open through June 30

The application window is now open for the Fred E. Freeman Staff Scholarship, an opportunity for eligible staff to receive up to $2,000 per semester toward tuition, books, and other educational expenses. Staff members Maggie Schmicker and Raven Carr share their experiences as scholarship winners.

President Emeritus Rev. John I. Jenkins, C.S.C., to receive Commonweal Centennial Award

Rev. John I. Jenkins, C.S.C., president emeritus, has been selected as the recipient of the 2026 Commonweal Centennial Award. Commonweal, the oldest independent, lay-led, Catholic journal of opinion in the United States, created the award in 2024 in recognition of the journal’s 100th anniversary.

42-year study tracks how ‘forever chemicals’ move through the Great Lakes

Notre Dame researchers analyzed 42 years of biological records from the Great Lakes, unveiling how per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) or “forever chemicals” have moved across the region, contaminating a variety of wildlife.
