Canvas Assignments Default Grade |
Starting with the Summer 2024 term, Canvas will automatically assign a 0 to any assignment without a submission when the due date passes.
As the instructor, you are able to overwrite this grade at any time. If your assignment does not have a due date, nothing will happen. This step was enacted to help students have a clearer understanding of their current grades. If you would like to adjust this in your course, contact ETLC at helpdesk@uah.edu for assistance.

When Reusing Content in Canvas |
Here are a few things to keep in mind as you get ready to copy content into your course from another Canvas course:
All profiles on classroom computers will be deleted on May 13th. If you have any files stored on a classroom computer, please retrieve before that date. NOTE: If you teach in a classroom after that date, it will take a few minutes when you log in the first time to rebuild the profile, so plan accordingly.
A study analyzing over 30 million assessment records from the University of Michigan reveals that students with last names starting with W, X, Y, and Z tend to receive grades around 0.6 points lower than those starting with the letters A, B, and C. This was attributed to unconscious changes in grading standards as instructors progressed. Keep that in mind as you finish your grading!
