I-9 Verification for Student Employment
Help your student with the paperwork for their new job!
It's an exciting time for your student as they get acclimated to campus, and for many of our students, to get a campus job. All campus jobs require proof of eligibility to work in the United States through the Federal Form I-9, and here are some ways you can help your student prepare for this part of the hiring process.
-First, understand what is required. Take a look at the Acceptable I-9 Documents and be prepared.
-Second, if you do not want to send documents with your student, know that you can participate in the virtual appointment with them (student must be present), and show the original documents to the verifier from your home.
-Third, remind your student that they must complete the appointment and documentation (section 2) of the I-9 within 3 days of hire. This is a legal requirement.
Taking these steps will help your student have a smooth hiring process. For more information, see our I-9 verifications page below. We thank you for your help, and best of luck this semester!
