The Radford University Office of the President will host the eight community college partners for the first annual Tartan Transfer Summit on Thursday, Oct. 23 to further discussions about ways to connect students from the region with Radford. The keynote speaker will be Felicia Ganther, Ph.D., Senior Vice Chancellor for Academics and Workforce Programs for the Virginia Community College System.

Radford University is launching an exciting spirit song competition, and we're calling on our dedicated employees to showcase their creative talents.
Open to students, employees and alumni, this competition offers a $1,000 prize for the winning song, which will be unveiled at the men's basketball home opener this fall.
Submissions are due by Friday, Oct. 10.

RAD Talks kick off with first speaker for Fall |

The Radford University Office of the Provost and Arabica Cafe will host Ryan Sincavage, associate professor in the Department of Geospatial and Earth Science, as the first RAD Talks speaker of the fall on Wednesday, Sept. 24, at 7 p.m. at Arabica Café, 1158 East Main St. in Radford.
Sincavage's topic will be “Avulsion: learning to embrace the dynamic nature of our planet.” During his talk, he will discuss a variety of topics related to his research, including studies conducted in Italy and some of his earlier research from Southeast Asia and South America. He will point out specific instances of students doing research with him on some of these projects. Time will be allotted for a Q&A afterward. Refreshments will be provided.

Mark your calendars for “Esports: The Art of the Possible” on Sept. 26 |

Radford University will host a conversation about the future of the Esports industry and how the university prepares students for leadership. The session, “Esports: The Art of the Possible,” will be held on Friday, Sept. 26, from 9 a.m.-noon in Kyle Hall 340. This is a public event, open to everyone.

Ed Tomasi, the co-founder and managing partner of Subnation and president of PLAYHRDR Advisors. Tomasi has over 20 years of experience in esports strategy, partnerships and operations, including senior leadership at ESL Gaming. In his “State of Esports” presentation, he draws on his role in creating the first statewide esports incentive fund and spearheading North Carolina’s statewide esports initiative to showcase industry growth, investment opportunities and the future of competitive gaming.

Amber Mear is now the library liaison for communication sciences & disorders, nursing, occupational therapy and social work.
- Ashley Palazzo is now the library liaison for Appalachian studies, history and political science.
- Alison Armstrong is the interim liaison for anthropological sciences, biology and information technology.

Kay Johnson has taken on geospatial sciences to go with her long-time liaisonship with geology.
