GWU Students Gained Industry Insights at Destination DC's Marketing Outlook Annual Meeting 2024 |
Cevat Tosun, director of the M.S. in Tourism, Hospitality, and Event Management program and Eisenhower Chair and professor of tourism studies and management, took some of the GWSB MSTHEM and GWSB SEH students, and students registered for MGT 3300 Entrepreneurship class to Destination DC's Marketing Outlook Annual Meeting 2024 on Tuesday, August 2024 at Washington Hilton, Connecticut Ave, Washington, D.C. It was an exceptional experiential learning activity for the students. This event provided students with invaluable insights into destination marketing and management, allowing them to engage directly with industry leaders and learn from their wealth of experience alongside exploring internship and employment opportunities. The meeting not only broadened the students' understanding of Destination DC's vision but also demonstrated how the organization is strategically working to achieve its goals. It was a remarkable experience that inspired and equipped the students with knowledge and connections to advance their careers in the field. The students' participation was sponsored by Destination DC, an official organization for marketing Washington, D.C. as a tourist destination.

One of our MSTHEM Program students, Daniela Gamez, recently participated in the "Olympics Behind the Scenes" summer class in Paris, which coincided with the 2024 Summer Olympic Games. As part of a group of 26 GW students and 3 distinguished professors, Daniela had the opportunity to delve into the operational intricacies of the Games. This experience was especially meaningful to her, as it connected her passion for Taekwondo with her future aspirations in event management.
