Engage with Your Student

April 1-6 is V-Week, a time for our community to come together to be educated, challenged, and encouraged through special guest speakers and events. This year, we will be discussing the use and abuse of alcohol, marijuana, and vaping. To help you dialogue with your student about these topics, the Student Experience team put together some questions based on the daily events on campus.

Student Leadership Board representative Cole Cavey ('19) encouraged students to lean into V-Week discussions so they can learn to make the best choices for themselves and those around them.

Modified Schedules This Week

Please note the following modified schedules due to special assemblies this week:

Submitting Spring Break Service Hours

If your student served over Spring Break or Practicum, they can submit service hours here.
Any student who served on a Discovery Experience over break must first fill out a trip assessment before they will receive service hours. Log in here to access team assessments.
If you have any questions, email the Discovery office

Course Request Week

From April 8-11, returning students will be submitting their course requests for the 2019-2020 school year.
Students must be enrolled to request courses. Any student who has not fully completed the re-enrollment process will not be able to submit their requests.
If a student has a question about course decisions, freshmen students should talk with their 9th Grade Seminar Teacher. Sophomore and junior students can contact their Academic & College Counselor and also be in communication with their current teachers.
You can find all the necessary information and documents here, or by clicking "Course Request Week" under the Quicklinks menu on the website.

AP Pre-Administration Paperwork April 2-3

If your student is taking an AP test this spring, they are required to come to the Valor Center Upper Lobby anytime from 7:00 am - 4:00 pm on April 2 or 3 to complete their test administration paperwork. They should plan to spend 45 minutes filling out the paperwork
Contact Sheila Beckie with any questions.

ACT and Practice ACT - April 24

All juniors are automatically registered to take the ACT on April 24 at Valor. However, there is paperwork that they will need to complete prior to the exam. If they were not able to complete this paperwork prior to Spring Break, they will need to contact Mr. Kosirog this week (April 1-5). This paperwork will take 15-20 minutes and must be done by April 5 in order to take the ACT.
Sophomores will also be taking the Practice ACT on April 24. Freshmen and seniors do not need to report to school that day.

Helping with After Prom

Parents play a huge role in helping make the After Prom Party a fun and safe evening for our junior and senior students. One way to get involved is by signing up to donate a prize for the night by April 12. You can also volunteer to help on the night of After Prom at the Island.

Also Note ...

Covered in Scripture

When students return from Spring Break and Practicum, they'll see another Bible verse inscription on the 2nd floor wall near the Deans' offices. "The greatest among you will be your servant. For whoever exalts themselves will be humbled, and whoever humbles themselves will be exalted." - Matthew 23:11-12
