For three years, Alice relied on a walker due to health conditions that limited her mobility. Then she joined the Denver Y'sDiabetes Prevention Program and Blood Pressure Self-Monitoring Program — both funded by the CDC. Today, Alice walks with just her cane and says, "I enjoy living again." Without these life-changing programs, Alice says she would still be living a sedentary life, watching her health decline.
Funding for chronic disease prevention is on the line — and we're asking you to speak up. An Administration proposal would eliminate CDC funding for programs that help prevent and manage conditions like diabetes and high blood pressure.
