Dr. Maeve Wall (she/they) is a new assistant professor in the Department of Elementary Education. Her work is grounded in both research and lived experience as an elementary educator, with a focus on the school–prison nexus and critical teacher education. Dr. Wall’s forthcoming book, based on their dissertation, Abolish Punishment: Teachers’ Decriminalizing Practices with Black Boys in K–3 Classrooms, received the 2025 American Educational Research Association (AERA) Division K Outstanding Dissertation Award. She will be presenting this topic at this year's AERA Annual Meeting in Los Angeles!
