Register TODAY for the West Scranton Garbage Olympics!
We are excited to announce that the third annual West Scranton Garbage Olympics is returning as part of Scranton City Pride! Join us for this fun, slightly competitive volunteer event!
The West Scranton Garbage Olympics will kick off at 10 a.m. on Saturday, June 7 at the NeighborWorks' office at 815 Smith Street, Scranton, PA, 18504.
Register a team today to have a chance to win prizes! Teams who collect the most garbage, have the most volunteers, and have the most team spirit will win prizes to West Scranton restaurants.
Scranton City Pride is a project of Scranton Tomorrow, NeighborWorks Northeastern PA, and United Neighborhood Centers of Northeastern Pennsylvania. For more information on City Pride, visit scrantoncitypride.org.

Save the date for the Carbondale Block Party!
NeighborWorks will host its second annual Carbondale Block Party and cookout scheduled for Saturday, July 26, with a rain date of July 27, at the YMCA Park at 89 N Main St, Carbondale, PA, from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. This family-friendly event aims to bring together residents of all ages to highlight the city's unique features and foster community engagement. Stay tuned for more details!

Staff holds afternoon Easter Egg hand out at Allen Park
Despite the West Scranton EGGStravaganza getting rained out on two separate dates, that didn't stop us from handing out eggs to the community! Thank you to everyone who stopped by our afternoon pop-up at Allen Park last week to learn more about what NeighborWorks does in the community and to pick up free treats! 

Parker Dorsey joins Wilkes alumni board!


Please join us in congratulating Parker Dorsey on joining the Wilkes University Alumni Association Board of Directors to serve a three year term beginning in June. A Wilkes alumnus, Parker is among four new directors to be elected this spring.
The Alumni Board is comprised of over 30 alumni and student representatives who volunteer and commit to meet quarterly to improve the Wilkes alumni experience. Board members serve for renewable three-year terms.

Gerard Hetman wins local history trivia contest!


Please join us in congratulating our resident local historian Gerard Hetman, and Owen Worozbyt from the Lackawanna Hertiage Valley Authority, for reclaiming first place in the “You Live Here, You Should Know This” local history trivia contest, sponsored by the Lackawanna Historical Society.
This win gives Gerard and Owen a record of 3-1 in the series, and raises Gerard's overall record to 4-2. Congrats Gerard and Owen!

HomeOwnership Team wins Golden Hammers at "She Nailed It!"


Please join us in congratulating our HomeOwnership team: Kathi Tavera, Fernanda Proaño, Wendy Ramos and Tannah Shaffer for winning first place at She Nailed It!
She Nailed It! is Monroe County Habitat for Humanity’s annual all-women’s nailing competition. It is a timed nailing competition between teams of women to raise money for Habitat. Teams of four ladies go head-to-head in a nail-biting, nail-hammering competition to see who can hammer the most nails.
Congrats to our ladies for winning the golden hammers!

Join us for NEPA Gives next month!
NeighborWorks is excited to be participating in NEPA Gives this year! Your support will go towards assisting us in delivering programming to our neighbors through our HomeOwnership Center, Aging in Place services, and our Community Development work in West Scranton and Carbondale.
