We are excited to announce the launch of the Pike County First Time Homebuyer Program together with Pike County Human Services.
The objective of the Pike County First Time Homebuyer Program is to assist potential homebuyers who would otherwise be unable to access a pathway to affordable homeownership due to income barriers. The goal of the program is to increase the opportunities for sustainable homeownership for low- to modest-income homebuyers by overcoming the obstacles created by the total cost of purchasing. The program will create a meaningful incentive for the purchase of owner-occupied homes within Pike County.

Client Spotlight: Zadoora Carson
| |
“It’s the joy I see in my children. When it snowed, my kids were like, ‘Oh my God, we can play in our backyard and have a snowball fight and build a snowman!’ which we weren’t able to do before because we lived in a two-bedroom small apartment with no backyard or front yard. Just being able to do the little things that people may take for granted that are important, that’s how you build family memories.“
- Zadoora Carson, City of Scranton Homebuyer program client
Zadoora Carson and her three children used to live in public housing. Through the City of Scranton Homebuyer Program, she received downpayment assistance and credit counseling from a HUD-certified housing counselor, enabling her to not only purchase her first home but also to sustainably maintain it. Zadoora’s dream of homeownership became a reality, and she is now a first-generation homeowner in her family. We wish Zadoora and her children many more years of family memories in their new home!
