Injured Deer Near Brannon-Gearhart Park

The Rangers have received many calls over the last five weeks regarding a Mule Deer Buck near the west side of Brannon-Gearhart Park that displays a broken front right leg and a dropped tine (growth) antler. The Rangers have viewed this animal several times over the last few weeks and evaluated its condition. Currently it is feeding and mobile enough to just monitor. The Rangers practice the same policy as Colorado Parks and Wildlife. If a deer is injured but can still feed and walk on its own, then we let nature take its course. However, if the deer is injured to the point it cannot feed or walk on its own, then Rangers or Parks and Wildlife will respond to euthanize the animal. If you have any questions or want more information, call the Rangers at 303-979-1876, ext. 170.
