Green Tip
Please enjoy the following eco-friendly tidbit brought to you by Friends of the Environment:
You have reusable bags and are now used to putting them to work. Which are the best bags? The most popular materials for reusable bags are cotton, polypropylene, and polyethylene terephthalate (PET) bags. Cotton is sturdy and resilient but has a high carbon footprint since it is a high-water consumption crop and requires a lot of energy to make the bags. Polypropylene bags are low cost and durable, but it is a plastic and is not biodegradable once its usefulness is over. PET bags are made from post-consumer plastic bottles, so they are already recycled from a waste product, and they are strong and easy to clean. But not all of them can be recycled once you can no longer use them. Whichever bag you choose, the key is to use it as many times as you can for the most benefit.

Monday Winter Golf Course Meet Up!
Want to get out and enjoy everything RVR offers in the winter, especially with all the great snow? Join a group of residents every Monday for an outdoor adventure on the golf course: cross country skiing, snowshoeing, or walking. Meet at the north end of the golf course parking lot at 8:45 a.m. We’ll explore the front nine, back nine, or both! Each nine can be done in about 75 minutes. Come prepared to get some exercise, enjoy the outdoors, and hopefully meet some new neighbors.

Social Clubs at RVR – A Call for Ambassadors!
We hope to increase opportunities for those in RVR to enjoy the things they love doing with others in the community, and hopefully meet some new friends in the process!
We are seeking volunteers to serve as ambassadors for special interest groups, or social clubs. At a minimum, the ambassador will serve as a point of contact for connecting members with a similar interest – including new neighbors or others who have yet to establish their own social networks or those looking to take up a new activity. They may also (totally optional) coordinate group activities around the interest, maintain a contact list of interested people, write blurbs for the newsletter about upcoming meet ups, or any number of things that may help our community engage. The club ambassador’s name and contact information will be posted on the website.
Here are some social clubs that we think could be of interest to the community:
- Fishing
- Hiking
- Skiing
- Cross Country Skiing
- Road Cycling
- Mountain Biking
- Book Club
- Crafts
- Bridge
- Mahjong
- Boating
- Walking
- Poker
- Gardening
- Any other ideas welcome!
