Delivering Christmas joy
Children's Christmas Programs provides for 67th straight year
Our 67th annual Children's Christmas Programs & Toys for Tots is delivering a brighter Christmas in Newaygo County.
We will serve over 2,050 children this year through the program.
"While we did our major distribution last week, we were still helping some folks this week," said Mike Voyt, Volunteer & Special Projects Coordinator for TrueNorth Community Services. "We want as many children as possible to have a wonderful Christmas."
Kathy, a participant from White Cloud, shares her home with a friend. Between them, they have seven children from their two families.
"It's a very awesome program for children to be able to have something to open up under the tree on Christmas," she said.
Children's Christmas Programs & Toys for Tots could not be done without great community support. Over 100 incredible volunteers donated more than 1,200 hours to the program.
Melinda Barnhart, of Fremont, volunteered to help along with her daughter, Brynna.
"I just wanted to share it with her," said Barnhart, who also assisted with Coats for Kids (& Adults) and Senior Harvest Baskets. "I think is such a great opportunity and I love helping others. ...
"It'll be something that we do again together."
We are also very thankful for our generous program partners, The Fremont Area Community Foundation, The Gerber Foundation, the Keith Johnston Memorial Fund at FACF and the Toys for Tots Foundation; our wonderful donors; and everyone who dropped off toys and gifts at our collection boxes throughout Newaygo County.
