He grew up on the farm in Sondagskloof. He has broken quite a few rules as well as a few hearts ... He once put up his hand to fill the vacant position as Mayor of our town Hermanus. He tried to date one of the local farmers' daughters however when it frowned upon he changed his mind. He volunteered to be reserve for Bafana Bafana in their quest for World Cup 2010.
