Sophia Brelvi, J.D., OIE's Director of Compliance and Employment Equity, graduated from Duke's Leadership Academy on December 8. The Duke Leadership Academy, a program designed and implemented by Duke Human Resources, enables emerging leaders from across the university to participate in a 12-month development initiative based on The Five Practices of Exemplary Leadership. The curriculum includes a focus on leadership and management styles and behaviors to implement strategy.
"I am thrilled to be part of this year’s Duke Leadership Academy cohort. It is a wonderful opportunity for leaders across the institution to connect with each other regularly throughout the year, engage in exercises to better understand our leadership styles, learn from other institutional leaders, and create a new initiative proposal for the University to implement," Brelvi said. "DLA was an amazing avenue for me to capitalize on my strengths as a leader and develop other competencies to enhance my leadership skills."

Duke University Institutional Statement of Commitment to Diversity and Inclusion
Duke aspires to create a community built on collaboration, innovation, creativity, and belonging. Our collective success depends on the robust exchange of ideas—an exchange that is best when the rich diversity of our perspectives, backgrounds, and experiences flourishes. To achieve this exchange, it is essential that all members of the community feel secure and welcome, that the contributions of all individuals are respected, and that all voices are heard. All members of our community have a responsibility to uphold these values.
