We Would Do It Again In A Heartbeat!

Fair 2018 Darbie Kemper wins an airboat ride on Malheur Lake for her and her 4 boys. Recently on a beautiful 70+ degree day Darbie and her boys took that ride touring the lake with Ecological Coordinator Ben Cate. Darbie and her youngest had never before been on the lake and what fun they had! The pictures here share their adventure as they learned about Malheur Lake restoration efforts.

And The Award Goes To . . .

Congratulations range scientist Dustin Johnson with OSU Extension with earning the Award of Excellence in Extension Education! Lucky us to have Dustin's humble expertise contributing to the work of our board and collaboratives.

Almost Like Being There

October 16-17 in Logan, UT was the site of the Restoring The West Conference. The folks who put on the conferience recorded all presentations, including High Desert Partnership's Ben Cate's presentation about Harney County collaboration. Access these presentations here.

Malheur National Wildlife Refuge Comprehensive Conservation Plan

The collaborative process used to develop the Malheur National Wildlife Refuge Comprehensive Conservation Plan in 2013 was a major effort to restore the refuge’s aquatic health, enhance wildlife habitat and revitalize relationships with stakeholders and the community. If you're unfamiliar with this collaborative feat or could use a refresher, find the plan and highlights here.

November Events

Consensus

High Desert Partnership's collaboratives are not democracies. Decisions are not made by majority rule as many people may perceive. Decisions, outcomes created, are made by consensus which means getting to YES means everyone agrees to a decision. Watch how the characters from The Big Bang Theory reach consensus - it's spooky, it's like watching a High Desert Partnership collaborative meeting.
