Villanova University Named Top Producer of Fulbright U.S. Students for 15th Consecutive Year
VILLANOVA, PA—Villanova University has once again been named a top producer of Fulbright U.S. Students for a 15th consecutive year, as recently announced by the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs (ECA). The Fulbright Program is the U.S. government’s flagship international educational exchange program and top-producing colleges and universities are highlighted annually in The Chronicle of Higher Education. Villanova had 19 students and alumni win Fulbright awards for the 2022-2023 academic year.
“Congratulations to this year’s Fulbright award recipients,” said University President the Rev. Peter M. Donohue, OSA, PhD. “I am continually in awe of how our students use the knowledge and skills they have acquired at Villanova and go out into the world make a positive difference. Year after year, our Fulbright recipients are remarkable ambassadors for Villanova, and I wish them the best of luck in their placements.”

Another game, another record-setting night for Villanova’s Maddy Siegrist From the Philadelphia Inquirer - Maddy Siegrist entered Wednesday night just 11 points shy of the City 6 women’s basketball all-time scoring record. With just five minutes and nine seconds remaining in the second quarter, the Villanova star forward sank two free throws to reach 11 points in the game and 2,582 in her career. In doing so, Siegrist surpassed Drexel’s Gabriela Marginean who previously held the top spot with 2,581 points.

Inclusion: An Unlikely Super Bowl LVII Halftime Show Special Guest
From Forbes - Less often the topic of conversation, but possibly the largest of these groups, are those viewers who tuned in solely for the halftime show. Rihanna was this year’s performer; in addition to her music, the spotlight shone on her outspoken brand of inclusivity, allowing it to be a co-star of the show. Aronte Bennett is an Associate Professor of Marketing at Villanova School of Business where she also has the honor of serving as the Associate Dean of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion.

Lepage Center Presents: Climate Change in Historical Perspective: Climate and the Global Security Landscape
Join our discussion about how climate change impacts global security. Villanova Geography and the Environment professor Dr. Frank Galgano will be joined by Dr. John R. McNeill (Edmund A. Walsh School of Foreign Service, Georgetown University), Colonel Mark Read (Department Head, Geography and Engineering, West Point United States Military Academy), Dr. Marcus King (Department of Environment and International Affairs, Georgetown University and CRS Board Member, Center for Climate and Security), Tom Ellison (Deputy Director, Center for Climate and Security), and Marisol Maddox (Senior Arctic Analyst, Polar Institute, Woodrow Wilson Center for Scholars).
This virtual panel discussion will take place February 22nd from 6:00PM to 7:15PM. This event is free and open to the public.

Cultural Film Series Screening: The Last Metro
Monday, February 27 7:00PM Cinema, Connelly Center
This year’s series features films that utilize cinematic art to convey to viewers a specific sense of place. Films are screened in the Cinema of the Connelly Center on Villanova’s main campus on Sundays at 3:30PM and 7:00PM and Monday evenings at 7:00PM. The speakers, who introduce the film and lead a discussion after the screening, are only present for the Monday evening screenings.
As always, film screenings are free and open to the public. Parking is available in the I-1 Garage.

*There will be no access restrictions during summer breaks, holiday schedules, or finals weeks.*
Pavilion Pool Hours
Monday and Friday: 9AM - 1PM
Wednesday: 9AM - 12:45PM
Tuesday and Thursday: 8AM - 1PM
*Please note that there will be no Rec Swim on the following dates, and that these dates may be updated throughout the semester:*

Membership
The Friends of Villanova program is offered by Villanova University to our neighbors in Radnor Township and select neighborhoods in Lower Merion Township that are contiguous to our main campus. Residents of Radnor and select areas of Lower Merion may, for an annual fee, access University facilities such as the Fitness Center at the Davis Center and the Pavilion Pool, on a limited recreational basis.
If you are interested in joining the program, please visit villanova.edu/fovmembership to submit an application. Please allow 3-5 business days for staff to complete the review and verification process. Once the process is complete, you will be notified of your status via email.

Chrysalis
February 16th - 26th
Developed at Villanova in 2019 through the Sue Winge Award for Playwriting, Chrysalis explores the metamorphosis of Maria Sybilla Merian, 17th-century illustrator and naturalist, and her teenage daughter, Dorothea, as they redraw the lines of their personal and professional relationship. Determined to be taken seriously for her scientific discoveries in a male-dominated field, Maria embarks on a risky investigation that ultimately challenges how well she and her daughter know themselves and each other.
