25th Annual Turkey Free Friendsgiving Potluck
The food will be bountiful and delicious when you join ARC and friends for the 25th Annual Turkey Free Friendsgiving Potluck on Saturday, November 10. You do not have to be vegan or vegetarian to attend.
Beverages will be provided, along with a variety of vegan cheeses to sample.
Bring a vegan main dish, side dish, or dessert to share, along with a serving spoon (vegan = no meat, dairy, eggs, gelatin, honey, or refined sugar). Your dish should serve at least 10 people. Please bring a list of ingredients so we can be allergy-friendly.
This is a wonderful event to bring your friends and family to and show them how delicious vegan holiday eating can be. We are looking forward to sharing a special meal with all of our friends, longtime and brand new. Location is Living Spirit United Methodist Church, 4501 Bloomington Ave. in Minneapolis from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Please RSVP either on Facebook or Meetup.

How to Handle the Holidays
The holidays can be a tough time for vegans trying to balance relationships with family and friends and their own beliefs.
This free workshop and discussion will address issues like attending non-vegan holiday events, entertaining family members, whether to skip the holidays altogether, and more. This is an opportunity to share your experiences and give advice to one another. This event would also be helpful for those who may not be vegan, but who have vegan family members and would like to understand how to support them. Snacks will be provided, but feel free to bring something to contribute. Workshop is on Thursday, November 21 from 6:00-7:30 p.m. at the ARC office. Please RSVP either on Facebook or Meetup.

Great Minnesota Hot Dish Competition
Always a crowd pleaser! Thank you to the competitors, judges, volunteers, and everyone who attended the annual hot dish competition. Congrats to this year's winners: Megan Duke who won the Judges Choice award and Chelsea Youngquist who won the Audience Favorite award, and kudos to all the contestants for their very creative vegan brunch entries: Sammy Barba, Laura Ford, Steve Leinen, Shaun McClay, and Melissa Peck. The judge’s panel included Kara Jean Breci, founder of SoulSpace Farm Sanctuary, whose mission is to rescue and protect farmed animals from cruelty; Casey David Muir-Taylor, social media manager for St. Paul vegan restaurant J. Selby's and who started the Two City Vegans blog; and Katie Arndt, former ARC Volunteer Coordinator and now hardworking law student, and dedicated Feline Rescue cat foster. And special thanks to ARC volunteer Andrew Seffrood for herding cats and organizing a very successful event!

Upcoming Events in November
We'll be doing Virtual Reality outreach with videos about the lives of farmed animals at Augsburg University on 11/6 and the Healthy Life Expo at Minneapolis Convention Center on 11/17 and 11/18. Email Kelsey if you're interested in helping out.
Cuddle Coats Prep Session

Protest Four Paws and a Tail
On 11/4 and 11/25 join ARC, Bailing out Benji, and Puppy Mill Free Minnesota for a peaceful protest against Four Paws and a Tail to oppose their purchase of animals from mass breeding facilities. Meet at the intersection of County Rd. 10 and Jefferson, on the grassy area in front of Chipotle, which is public property near Northtown Mall, 398 Northtown Drive NE in Blaine from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. Signs will be provided. 
Stay tuned for details on fur protests and educational leafletting planned for Fur Free Friday (the day after Thanksgiving) and other dates. These will be posted on Animal Rights Meetup and the ARC Facebook page.
