Let's face it: everyone needs that periodic, pure, rest-and-recharge trip away. But many of us like to--or would like to--also travel for other, deeper reasons, like cultural heritage connections, service, learning, or exploration. Think "journey" versus "vacation." Read on to see where these featured alums are going, and why it's important to them.
Take the Purposeful Travel Survey and tell us your travel preferences, stories and aspirations. Learn about Hood's study abroad program and how you can support student travel. Consider joining a Faculty-led trip to the French Caribbean coming up in early 2027--the deadline to express an interest is August 25! Nothing says "purposeful," travel-wise, like making a decision to serve in the Peace Corps. After graduation, Noora Emara '23 spent 2+ years as a Youth Development Specialist in southern Morocco, and, despite many challenges, has no regrets and encourages others who have an interest to serve too.
