In collaboration with the Division of Student Services and the Teaching, Learning and Technology Center, I am pleased to announce that the updated Seton Hall University Advising Course will be available to all faculty and professional advisors in Canvas beginning tomorrow, April 8, at 10 a.m. You can access the course here, and may be prompted to sign in with your PirateNet credentials if you are not already logged in. You will also receive an email on Wednesday, April 8, at 10:30 a.m. from SHU Advising (notifications@instructure.com) notifying you that the training is available and open for you to complete.

This updated module reflects the strong and ongoing partnership between Academic Affairs and Student Services to enhance the advising experience and support student success. The training is designed to provide best practices in advising while also introducing new and enhanced Compass functionalities, including alerts, appointment campaigns, and additional tools to better support student engagement.
|
I would like to extend my sincere thanks to the faculty, advisors, and administrators who contributed to the development of this training. As you complete the training, you may even recognize some of your colleagues featured in the videos.

Share, Honor Unite: 30th Annual Petersheim Academic Exposition |
Monday, April 20 — Saturday, April 25
The Exposition will kick off with the Opening Ceremony on Monday, April 22, noon – 2 p.m. in Bethany Hall, with Jose Lopez, Ph.D., professor of physics and director, Office of Grants and Research Services, as the keynote speaker. Registration now open to save your seat and complimentary lunch. Events will take place throughout the week, with the formal Closing Ceremony of Celebration held on Friday, April 26, 3:30 - 5 p.m. in the McNulty Hall Amphitheater. Reverend Joseph Laracy, S.T.D. of Immaculate Conception Seminary School of Theology, will deliver the keynote address. View the full schedule of events, which continues to be updated.

Thursday, April 23, 11 a.m. – 1 p.m., Walsh Library, 2nd Floor Common Area and Virtual
Stop by and see DataLab student research presentations on during DataLab- Advancing Research Through Student-Faculty Collaboration. The session highlights student research supported by Research Data Services and faculty mentors. Students will present projects demonstrating the application of data analysis, computational methods, and technologies to address real-world research questions. Student researchers are Nadia Aboukaram, Chris Henderson, Daniel Gilliland, and Marco Ponce. This event is organized by Samah Alshrief, Ph.D., Data Specialist and Manager of Research Data Services.

Save the Date: Faculty Research Exposition during Petersheim Academic Exposition

Wednesday, April 22, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Silent Study Room (2nd Floor Walsh Library)
Join OGRS and fellow faculty members for the Faculty Research Exposition. This all-day event features faculty scholarship presentations including recipients of the University Research Council (URC) Award. The URC was established to foster faculty research and to promote faculty development activities, including the identification of priorities and programs which shall provide opportunities for faculty growth and renewal. Come for an hour or two and support Seton Hall University Faculty Research!
