March 3, 2021
Dear UMKC faculty and staff,
Thank you for your ongoing vigilance in keeping us safe on campus by wearing masks and social distancing. Although COVID-19 cases continue to drop, we must continue this course in the months ahead as more people are vaccinated.
We have hopeful news to share on the vaccine front. UMKC, through the School of Pharmacy, is now a ShowMeVax registrant through the state of Missouri for the COVID vaccine. Over the past couple of weeks, the School of Pharmacy worked with state and community partners to vaccinate health care workers. We would like to thank Dean Russell Melchert, Professor Cameron Lindsey and their team for their continued commitment to the health and safety of our community and their continued advocacy for UMKC.
As the vaccination supply opens up across the state, the School of Pharmacy may be receiving a limited number of vaccinations to administer to UMKC employees. Eligible employees through March 14 include patient-facing health care workers, first responders and emergency services and high-risk individuals (65 years and older or adults with a preexisting chronic health condition). It is imperative as a vaccine provider that we adhere to the state of Missouri’s priority list. We need your help with this because not doing so will impede the School of Pharmacy’s ability to receive future doses.
We are asking that all employees who are interested in receiving a vaccine to complete a survey.
Take the Survey
The School of Pharmacy will use the information gathered from the survey to contact individuals for the clinics that they host as vaccine becomes available. As additional tiers open up, we will notify the campus community based on the survey data. If you have completed a survey from the School of Pharmacy before and are still in need of vaccine, please complete this survey so we use the most up-to-date listing. This information also allows the School of Pharmacy to be responsive if vaccine arrives.
We understand that many members of our UMKC community are looking for vaccinations. The School of Pharmacy and UMKC leadership will continue to advocate for additional allocations to meet the need of our employees that fit in eligible tiers. We know the interest will outpace available vaccines so completing the survey does not guarantee a vaccination. Therefore, we ask that you and your families continue to register through your county or health provider.
The School of Pharmacy will prioritize eligible faculty and staff who regularly have in-person contact with students or other employees based on the survey responses. Please note that these individuals must still meet the current eligibility.
Also, please read the vaccine Q & As with the UMKC Health Sciences deans we keep updated with the latest news and developments.
Additionally, please continue to report positive COVID cases within four hours to your supervisor or after hours to 816-235-COVI. A reminder that we also have free COVID testing in a convenient drive-up clinic for all faculty, staff and students by appointment at go.umkc.edu/covidtesting.
Thank you in advance for your cooperation and your continued commitment to keeping our campus and community safe.

Sincerely,

C. Mauli Agrawal, Ph.D.
