Dear friends and colleagues,
The Data Center's team is expanding ... and our alums are branching up and out!
Please join us in welcoming Whitney and Nihal to The Data Center team and in congratulating Denice and Joy on their exciting new positions.
Whitney Soenksen, Operations Manager, joined The Data Center on September 1st from her position as a cross-departmental project manager at the City of New Orleans. Whitney moved to New Orleans in 2012 as a part of the Bloomberg Innovation Delivery Fellowship tasked with identifying and tackling our most pressing urban challenges. Prior to working for the City of New Orleans, Whitney held positions in strategic communications, information systems design, and project management in Washington, DC, and Boston. Whitney has an MS in Leadership and Nonprofit Management from Northeastern University and a BA in American Studies and Journalism from the University of Iowa.
Nihal Shrinath, Data Manager, joined The Data Center on September 15th from his position at Resource Environmental Solutions (RES), a wetlands mitigation provider, where he directed data analysis and land mapping for the Emerging Markets team. Before RES, Nihal worked as a developer and integration specialist at a Health IT start-up in New Orleans. Nihal came to New Orleans as part of the Venture for America Fellowship, a program designed to place young graduates in start-ups in America's economically transitioning cities. Nihal, who hails from Boston, Massachusetts, has a degree from Amherst College in Political Science and Computer Science.
And as for our alums...in February, 2014, Joy Bonaguro, Data Center team member from 2002 to 2009, was selected as the very first Chief Data Officer of the City of San Francisco. And, Denice Warren Ross, Data Center team member from 2001 to 2010, was selected as a Presidential Innovation Fellow in September, 2014. In these prestigious posts, Joy and Denice will propagate many of the nationally renowned data dissemination techniques that we developed as a team here at The Data Center. We could not be prouder!
As always, bringing you the data you need to make informed decisions,
The Data Center
George Hobor, Vicki Mack, Allison Plyer, Nihal Shrinath, and Whitney Soenksen
