| | Snooze Season is Here: Why You May be Craving Some Extra Rest❄️ |
Reclaiming Rest: From Guilt to Good Health |
As a student, it can be increasingly difficult to get a good night's rest! However, as we are in the thick of the winter months, it is even more important to prioritize not just sleep, but quality sleep. 😴
In winter, changes in natural light exposure can increase the production of melatonin, a hormone that helps regulate the body’s sleep/wake cycle. While melatonin supports sleep, disrupted schedules and inconsistent routines can still lead to poor sleep quality.
Lack of quality sleep can affect both physical and mental health, trapping us in a cycle of consistently trying to make up for lost rest. Try out some of these tips to ensure you prioritize sleep, and your body will thank you:
-
Stick to a routine sleep schedule that allows you to get at least 8-9 hours of sleep a night.
- Get outside and enjoy some natural sunlight!
- Maintain a cozy sleeping place that is comfortable, dark, and puts your mind at ease.
