Hebrew College Prozdor Purim
"Our Teen Learning programs put Torah and multidisciplinary Jewish learning in conversation with contemporary values, experience, and Jewish futures. I turned to the Megillah Project for just that lens. It features short talks from top scholars, artists, and activists—transforming Purim from the carnivals of childhood to the real-life social issues and tensions that teens are exploring today." — Rabbi Laura Bellows`18, Director of Prozdor and Teen Learning
On Sunday, Rabbi Bellows' "Midrash and Creative Writing" students studied a teaching from the Megillah Project and wrote six-word vingettes of Purim characters. Here are a few:

Headstands for Purim
"And so, on the thirteenth day of . . . the month of Adar . . . things were turned upside down . . . (v'na'hafoch hu)." (Esther 9:1)
Hebrew College President Rabbi Sharon Cohen Anisfeld (right) has a practice of doing daily headstands from the beginning of Adar. Now Rabbi Shira Shazeer`10 has brought this tradition to Metrowest Jewish Day School, where they did a Rosh Chodesh Adar Headstand Challenge this year. The whole community sent in photos and videos of themselves doing headstands, handstands and upside-down fun. Wishing everyone a joyful and topsy-turvy Purim!

Purim Ecstatic Dance: The After Party
“One year ago, following Purim, we stepped into darkness as the pandemic swept across the globe. Since then we have been holding multitudes: depression, repression, anger, sadness,” says rabbinical student Lawrence Dreyfuss, an international performance artist. “For one night, the Jewish tradition teaches us to untether from the black bile, to play with that which lies below the surface and release. I know no better vehicle for this than dance.”
Join Lawrence and Hebrew College faculty member Jordan Schuster at 9 p.m. tonight—after the Megillah reading—for an exploration of what it means to untether and transcend.

By Naomi Stephenson, junior at Belmont High School and participant in Teen Beit Midrash of Hebrew College Now that it has been revealed that there is, indeed, a Jewish Space Laser, the accompanying Masechet Laser has also been revealed. It is a relatively short masechet revealing the piercing nature of the subject, and it has been secretly passed down for generations . . .

The Light That Remains
Parashat Tetzaveh and Shushan Purim (Exodus 27:20-30:10) By Naomi Gurt Lind, Hebrew College Rabbinical Student
Some years ago, following a particularly magnificent performance, I found myself in my center-balcony seat of a Broadway theatre, holding my breath. The show had long since ended, but I didn’t move. I was magicked into rapturous submission, couldn’t bear to break the spell. Minutes passed . . . .
