Embracing Warmer Weather With Mindful Movement
|
As the days grow longer and the sun finally sticks around, it’s the perfect time to take your movement outside. Whether it’s a brisk walk around the Quad, stretching in the grass at Promontory Point, or joining a pick-up game with friends, physical activity in the fresh air can do wonders for your energy, focus, and mood. Even five minutes outside can help reset your mind during a busy study day. This week, we’re sharing easy ways to stay active, connect with others, and make the most of the season—one step at a time.
Chicago Outdoor Activities:
-
The Chicago Park District hosts various free or low-cost fitness classes in parks across the city during the summer months. These can include yoga, Zumba, tai chi, and more.
-
Organizations like the Chicago Area Runners Association (CARA) often organize group runs and training programs open to the public which is great if you want to explore different neighborhoods and stay active!
-
Want to explore outside of Hyde Park? Meetup.com has groups dedicated to outdoor fitness, hiking, or sports to help you discover new activities and meet people with similar interests!
Remember to stay hydrated, wear sunscreen, and check the weather before heading out. Enjoy the sunshine and stay active!
