Dear Tablas Creek supporter,
It's veraison time, our marker for the winding down of summer and the beginning of our busy fall! We hope you have enjoyed a good summer season. Here in Paso Robles, we've had a high quality growing season so far and are excited for the 2019 vintage. But we have big news beyond that, including a milestone 30 years in the making. For details, read on.

Vineyard Report: Veraison 2019 Suggests a mid-September Start to Harvest
This growing season has been cool. While in most years we would be posting about veraison in mid-to late-July, this year we didn't see any evidence of color until early August. And it's still barely started. But now, if you head to one of our Syrah blocks, you don't have to look too hard to find veraison.
Veraison is a physiological stage of grape evolution where the berry stops accumulating mass and starts accumulating sugar. More visibly, red grapes start their color change from green, while white grapes take on more of a yellow tint. What does our late varaison mean for 2019? Jason explores on the blog.

Muscardin arrives at Tablas Creek, completing our Chateauneuf du Pape CollectionIn July, we grafted 250 buds of Muscardin into the vineyard here at Tablas Creek. This is a major milestone for us, and for the American Rhone movement, as all 14 Chateauneuf-du-Pape grapes are now here in California.
Not sure what Muscardin is? We have you covered. Check out this blog post.

August Featured Wine: 2018 Patelin de Tablas Rosé
We have a treat for our August monthly wine feature. The lively 2018 Patelin de Tablas Rosé, like most rosés from Provence, is based on the bright strawberry fruit and fresh acidity of Grenache, with additions of deeper red fruit and spice from Mourvèdre and Counoise. It tied for the highest rating the Wine Enthusiast has ever given a Central Coast rosé at 93 points. Vinous gave it 91 points, named it a Vinous Favorite, and called it "a balanced, concentrated Rosé that deftly marries power with elegance."
Until the end of the month, the wine (normally $25) is $22.50, and just $17.50 to VINsiders. Questions? Contact us at 805.237.1231 x236 or orders@tablascreek.com

A lighter wine bottle revisited, 10 years and 1,370,000 pounds of glass later
Almost exactly nine years ago, we published a blog called Introducing a Greener Wine Bottle, in which Jason shared our decision to move our flagship wines from a heavier bottle to one of the lightest on the market.
This decision, driven by feedback from our customers, has had some major impacts, including more than a million pounds less of glass to manufacture, ship, and store.
