SafetyWorks Week for Seniors repairs over 40 properties in Carbondale area
SafetyWorks Week for Seniors was a great success this year, with a week of hands-on activities helping seniors across the City of Carbondale and surrounding areas from July 21-25! Over 300 volunteers were mobilized from across the country (with even a group from Japan!) to tackle 41 small home-repair projects.
Since 2010, we have partnered with Group Mission Trips to provide free home repairs to homeowners in underserved communities throughout Lackawanna County. This event was brought to you by Highmark Blue Cross Blue Shield and The AZEK Company. Coterra Energy, the City of Carbondale and the Lackawanna County Area Agency on Aging also donated funds to provide the materials for the volunteers.

Second annual Carbondale Block Party a great success
Thank you to everyone who joined us on July 26 for the second annual Carbondale Block Party! We are excited to continue implementing our ten-year Carbondale Core Plan through Blueprint Communities®. A big thank you to Carbondale Mayor Michele Bannon, the City of Carbondale and the Greater Carbondale YMCA for partnering with us in hosting this event.
Stay tuned for more events and resources from NeighborWorks Northeastern Pennsylvania and Carbondale Heart & Soul in the City and beyond in the future!

Julie Schumacher Cohen and Daysi Carreto from The University of Scranton Office of Community Relations, join hosts Parker Dorsey and Gerard Hetman in this episode of the Be a Neighbor podcast. We were excited to discuss their career and professional backgrounds, the ways their office connects the University of Scranton and the greater Scranton community, highlights from initiatives they have organized, how their activities reflect the university's Jesuit mission and more!
