Attorney General Jeff Landry led the LADOJ through a great month of February. From serving justice to protecting our people, our office continues fighting and winning for Louisiana. Below are some highlights from the successful month.

Joined by concerned parents and lawmakers, AG Jeff Landry released the Protecting Innocence Report – a thorough examination on the state of public libraries, the access children currently have to material that is far from age-appropriate, and potential solutions that citizens may take to protect children’s innocence.

AG Jeff Landry and the Coastal Conservation Association scored a big win for Louisiana's recreational fishermen. A federal court ruled that updated historical recreational harvest data must be used when amending marine fishery allocations.

Our Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force Commander David Ferris recently testified before the Louisiana Legislature. He explained the serious challenges our State faces with regards to child exploitation, and he noted our office's efforts to bring child predators to justice. More on that hearing here.

With assistance from the Sheriffs of Lafayette Parish, Grant Parish, Iberville Parish, and across our State - the Louisiana Child ID Program is off to a great start. This public safety initiative provides students from Kindergarten through Fifth Grade with free, easy-to-use kits to help families reunite after an abduction or a runaway. Once completed, these kits do not enter a database; rather, they are stored in the security of the families' homes.

Continuing our efforts to help combat domestic violence, sexual assault, and human trafficking - our office is conducting more training for law enforcement, prosecutors, and others. Click here to learn about the one we just completed in Lake Charles.

AG Jeff Landry demanded the FBI and the USDOJ cease and desist from investigating and surveilling Catholics who have done nothing more than exercise their natural and constitutional right to practice their religion. More here.

After the Orleans Parish DA's Office refused charges on more than a dozen men arrested for allegedly carrying guns illegally during Mardi Gras - AG Jeff Landry said residents, tourists, and the law enforcement officers responsible for these arrests and seizures deserve better from the District Attorney. "It’s no wonder the Crescent City is experiencing a surge in violent crime and leads the Nation in mass shootings."

AG Jeff Landry is calling on President Biden and Secretary Blinken to designate Mexican drug cartels as Foreign Terrorist Organizations under federal law. This will give law enforcement more authority to freeze cartel assets, deny entry to cartel members, and allow prosecutors to pursue stricter punishments against those who provide material support to cartels.

AG Jeff Landry joined Louisiana to a 24-state lawsuit seeking to block a new ATF rule governing pistol braces. Stabilizing braces were designed to help people with disabilities use pistols; and now they are used by many older people, people with limited mobility, disabled veterans, and people in smaller stature.
