Crystal River Restoration Project
The Town of Carbondale has been working with with River Restoration, DHM, Roaring Fork Conservancy and the Pitkin County Healthy Rivers board on the Crystal River Restoration project. The project aims to restore a one-half mile long reach of the Crystal River along the town-owned Riverfront Park in River Valley Ranch.
Project construction is set to begin late spring/early summer.

Green Tip
Consider all the receipts you may receive this week from retail and grocery stores, ATMs, or gas stations. Printed receipts require thousands of trees and generate millions of pounds of waste every year. CBS News recently reported that most receipts are now printed on thermal paper which is coated with bisphenol A (BPA) or bisphenol S (BPS), which are known hormone-disrupting chemicals. Instead of ink, heat from a printer is used to make letters and numbers appear on the treated paper. But these toxic chemicals can easily transfer to anything a receipt touches like your hand, the money in your wallet, or even the groceries in your shopping bag. And since these chemicals are dangerous, the receipt cannot be recycled but must be thrown into the trash. So if given a choice, please decline a paper receipt.
