Dear Faculty, Administrators and Staff,
Robinson is a professor in the College of Human Development, Culture, and Media, and has been at Seton Hall since 2016. During that time, she has served in many roles including interim dean of the former College of Communication and the Arts, chair of the Department of Communication and the Arts, as well as director of Graduate Studies of the M.A. in Communication. She is currently serving as the director of Oral Communication Competencies where she is spearheading the comprehensive course revision of the multi-section course, Oral Communication, to integrate crucial digital and cultural literacy learning outcomes. In her scholarship, she has published numerous articles, book chapters and books, coupled with national, international and regional presentations, in areas of assessment, communication instruction and pedagogy, computer-mediated and digital communication, and mobile learning.
As Faculty Chair, Robinson will work closely with co-chair, Paul Fisher, associate chief information officer and director of the Teaching, Learning and Technology Center, to align Seton Hall’s digital transformation with the University’s strategic priorities and set the agenda that will guide the TLTR’s work over the next two years. The TLTR is a consortium of faculty, administrators and students that meet to research, discuss and provide recommendations on institutional issues related to teaching, learning and technology. At the forefront of these discussions will be the rapid advancement of artificial intelligence (AI) and its inevitable impact on teaching and learning.
I invite members of the community to participate in the important work of the TLTR by joining one of the group’s subcommittees, including the newly formed Artificial Intelligence Committee. This working group will research AI’s effects on education, aid policy development, curate integration best practices and explore AI’s implications for the future workplace.
Please join me in congratulating Renee Robinson on her well-deserved appointment as the TLTR Faculty Chair and extending her a warm welcome to this new role.
