Dear Faculty, Administrators and Staff,
As we prepare to celebrate our students at the University Commencement and school- and college-based ceremonies, we are also proud to recognize our faculty who complete the Effective Teaching Practices course offered by the Association of College and University Educator (ACUE). This 25-week course provides evidence-backed strategies for designing an effective course, establishing a productive learning environment, and developing assessments that inform instruction and promote learning. This program is intensive – faculty implement strategies and adjust in real-time as they learn – but has been shown through independently validated research to improve student achievement. With the potential for such high benefits to our students, we commend our faculty for their dedication to instructional excellence.
Please join us in celebrating their accomplishments at the ACUE Pinning Ceremony on Monday, May 12, 2025 at noon, where these faculty will receive their certificates and pins. Save the date and let us know you plan to attend.
This year, President of ACUE Jonathan Gyurko will deliver a keynote address. Faculty will also share testimonials on how they have integrated these strategies into their teaching. This event is a wonderful opportunity for those interested in joining next year’s program to learn more about its impact. Learn more about the program.

| Exploring the Real Cost of Federally Funded Research Cuts |
The research partnership between universities like Seton Hall and the federal government, which yields important research funding, may be in jeopardy notes a new video produced by the National Association of College and University Business Officers (NACUBO). John Buschman, dean of University Libraries and associate provost, research and innovation, says that the Office of Grants and Research (OGRS) has been vocal about the real cost of lost indirect federal funding. Universities already contribute almost $7 billion in support of research beyond the federal monies, and recent government proposals to further reduce or cap federal Indirect monies are front-of-mind for university leaders. Watch “Understanding the Real Costs of Research” to learn more.
