LMU Career Expo
Thursday, September 20 from 12-3 p.m., University Hall Atrium
Career and Professional Development (CPD) invites you to join us at the Fall 2018 Career Expo on September 20, from Noon - 3 p.m., in University Hall. Our largest event of the Fall, the Expo draws ambitious Lions from all majors and connects them with employers from various industries. Stop by the ONIF booth to learn about career-related fellowships!

Kaplan Grand Plan Scholarship Competition- Deadline: September 30. Enter to win a $500 Amazon gift card or a $5,000 scholarship.This is an essay competition and is not endorsed by LMU or ONIF.  

Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship- Deadline: October 2 for Spring 2019 and (early) Summer 2019. The Gilman Scholarship Program provides awards of up to $5,000 for U.S. undergraduate students who are receiving Federal Pell Grant funding to participate in study and intern abroad programs worldwide. Contact ONIF with any questions.

The National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA) Graduate Fellowship Program (NGFP)- Deadline: October 3. The National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA) Graduate Fellowship Program (NGFP) is seeking highly motivated graduate-level students to grow as the next generation of nuclear security leaders. Our year-long, salaried fellowships offer:
  • Hands-on experience in nuclear security and nonproliferation
  • Career development, professional networking, and specialized training events
  • Extensive interaction and collaboration with leading national security technology and policy experts.
NGFP is administered by Pacific Northwest National Laboratory and sponsored by the NNSA, a semi-autonomous agency within the U.S. Department of Energy, to provide students with training and practical experience that contribute to a safer world. 
Eligibility:
  • Be a U.S. citizen
  • Be eligible for security clearance based on position requirements (see below for more detail)
  • Have a career interest in U.S. and global nuclear security
  • Demonstrate maturity, good judgment, and self-motivation
  • Have excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work in an integrated and diverse environment
  • Be enrolled in a graduate program at the time of application, OR
  • Have completed a graduate degree program within 18 months prior to the application deadline
  • Have a final and current cumulative GPA of at least 3.20 in the graduate degree program

Gates Cambridge Scholarship- Deadline: October 10 for U.S. applicants, December 5 for international students (outside of the U.S.). The Gates Cambridge Scholarship programme was established in October 2000 by a donation of US$210m from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation to the University of Cambridge; this is the largest ever single donation to a UK university.They offer 90 full-cost scholarships each year to outstanding applicants from countries outside the UK to pursue a full-time postgraduate degree in any subject available at the University of Cambridge. The selection criteria are:
  • outstanding intellectual ability
  • leadership potential
  • a commitment to improving the lives of others
  • a good fit between the applicant's qualifications and aspirations and the postgraduate programme at Cambridge for which they are applying

Frank R. Seaver College of Science & Engineering

The National Hispanic Health Professional Student Scholarship Program- Deadline: October 1. The 2018 National Hispanic Health Professional Scholarship is open to any student enrolled full time in the following accredited graduate programs: Dental, Medical (allopathic or osteopathic), Pharmacy, Nursing (accepting BSN), Public Health or Health Policy. Eligible students must be enrolled full time for the 2018-19 academic year. Applicants are not required to be Hispanic; an affinity for the health of Hispanic communities and an interest in participating in NHHF Scholars Alumni activities is required.

Fully-Funded Public Service Weekend – UC San Diego | Local Leadership in a Global World
Friday, November 30 – Sunday, December 2, 2018
Priority Application Deadline: September 26
This interactive weekend is designed to expose students to the myriad ways they can make a meaningful difference in the world. There will be skill building and networking, and chances to interact with policy experts and public officials, culminating in a group project you can use in your portfolio as you move on to your next adventure. All on the beautiful UC San Diego campus, just minutes from the beach. Participants must be currently enrolled, or a recent graduate, of a 2 or 4-year college or university living in Southern California with interest in the public sector. All majors are welcome. Preference is given to traditionally underrepresented students.
