OCTOBER VOLUNTEERING
Greetings, Volunteers!

As the days get shorter and we put our gardens to bed for the season, some of our ongoing outdoor volunteering opportunities are winding down for the season, but we have some great events coming up in need of composting expertise to help them be as green as possible. More details below!

To sign up for an event this month and receive a month of free Garbage to Garden service, RSVP by email and we will help answer any questions you may have. Then simply send confirmation of your volunteer hours to volunteer@garbagetogarden.org to receive credit.

Scarborough Marsh - Fall Clean Up
SATURDAY, OCTOBER 22
9am to Noon - Scarborough Marsh Audubon Center

Fall is here and it’s time to clean up the marsh and beaches after a very busy summer.  We also need help preparing the Nature Center for a long winter ahead. Join Maine Audubon, Friends of Scarborough Marsh, and the Scarborough community for a work day, and help make our corner of the earth a better place. Groups are welcome!

We are partnering with Project G.R.A.C.E. to collect food. Bring some nonperishable food or a grocery store gift card to the clean up and help the human inhabitants of the marsh.

Help us fill bags of compost!

As the season winds down, we need lots of extra hands to help fill bags of compost to keep up with demand.

Compost bagging begins on Mondays and Wednesdays at 9am at our shop in Portland (as long as it is not raining).
Come lend a hand for ~1.5 hours in exchange for one month of free service!

No need to RSVP, but please do check in with the office upstairs while here so we can credit your account. And don't forget to wear clothes you don't mind getting dirty!
