Film: “Playtime” (1967) 

Monsieur Hulot finds himself perplexed by the complexity of a gadget-filled Paris. He attempts to meet with a business contact but soon becomes lost. His journey parallels that of an American tourist. The two meet and develop an interest in one another. They eventually get together at a restaurant, along with several other quirky characters. Cost: students $4; faculty/staff $6.

Enjoy an evening of music with the Ben Rosenblum Trio. Bring a chair, pack a picnic and make yourself comfortable in the museum’s courtyard while taking in the sights and the sounds at the museum.

Closures, Openings, Limited Hours and Cancellations

Food Trucks at Fieldhouse Mall

On Friday, Aug. 2, all Campus Dining locations will be closed for an All-Staff Day of Learning. Campus Dining will coordinate for multiple food trucks to be on campus to provide meal opportunities to our students, faculty, staff and guests.

Mahaffey Business Library Closed for Remodeling through Aug. 5

The Business Library will continue to provide a range of services including circulation of materials and reference via “Ask A Business Librarian.” The space will be closed and there will be no access to Capital IQ, Bloomberg, Datastream or Morningstar Direct. For assistance, contact 631-9098 or askbuslib@nd.edu.

OIT Lunch & Learn: What’s New in Office 2019?

A new version of Office is available. This OIT Lunch & Learn will show you some new features such as Excel chart and function options. Plus, you’ll see a demonstration of new customization options and example use cases. Faculty/staff must register for this event in Endeavor. Local retirees and students can contact training@nd.edu.

The Center for Social Concerns’ Community Impact Grants Application is now Open

The Center for Social Concerns awards Community Impact Grants for community-engaged research, teaching and learning that enact the values of Catholic social tradition. The grants are open to faculty, undergraduate or graduate students, and community partners. Grant proposals are reviewed once in the fall and once in the spring. The fall deadline for grant proposals is Monday, Sept. 16.

Staff Caregivers Support Group

If you are a staff member currently caring for an aging parent, a spouse or a child with special needs, you are welcome to join the caregivers support group for staff. This group offers the opportunity to connect with others, share information and struggles and listen to how others deal with their situations.

Safety, Parking and Traffic

Phase 3 of Basilica Construction Continues

Corby Drive will be closed through Friday, Aug. 9. The temporary delivery/drop-off route will be used during this phase. See the area map for details

Holy Cross Drive Detour July 29-31 near Grace Hall

A small stretch of Holy Cross Drive, east of the East Gate to the entrance to the Wilson Faculty/Staff Lot, will be closed Monday, July 29, through Wednesday, July 31, due to underground utility work associated with the construction of the women’s residence hall northeast of Dunne Hall. The closure, which includes the sidewalk, is highlighted in yellow on this map
Drivers will be able to access the East Gate via Stepan Drive and the Wilson Faculty/Staff parking lot via Holy Cross Drive. Please see the map, which indicates detours for vehicle traffic with red arrows and pedestrian traffic with blue arrows.

Menu items served every Wednesday include hot dogs, bratwursts, hamburgers, cheeseburgers and watermelon. See the website for special menu offerings on various Wednesdays and to learn how to place your order. Costs vary.

Tiki Tuesdays

Tech Upgrades and Service Interruptions

Okta Two-Step Login Begins Today

Starting Monday, July 29, you will use the new Okta two-step login service to access most ND services. You can login to your Okta account to add back-up devices — the OIT recommends setting up the Okta Verify mobile app, and at least one other back-up option. You can also view other settings and change your password.

Course sites are automatically generated in Sakai long before a semester begins. Tell Sakai that you want new sites added to your Sakai banner as soon as they are created by toggling on this option from the Sites button.
