First Year Drop-In Hour: "Tuesdays @ 2"
The Office of First Year Experience will host "Tuesdays @ 2" every Tuesday until Fall break. This drop-in hour allows first-year students the opportunity to engage with Orientation staff members and upperclass students in Dougherty Hall, Room 214 for a cup of coffee and casual—yet meaningful—conversation surrounding focused and timely topics. Encourage your first-year student to drop in to meet others interested in the topic of the week and learn about related resources. Topics and reminders are shared on the @novaorientation Instagram account.

Facilities Requests: Easy to File Online! |
From time to time, your Wildcat's residence hall or room may require attention. Whether it's broken blinds, pest control, common area/restroom cleaning or supplies or a heating/cooling issue, please remind your student to file a request online so it can be recorded, assigned, tracked and completed efficiently. Villanovans can report concerns easily—24 hours a day, seven days a week—using a simple form found on the Maintenance Request page. In an emergency, students can call the Facilities Maintenance Office Monday through Friday, from 8 a.m.-3 p.m., at 610-519-4420; after hours, students can call Public Safety at 610-519-6979.

Exploring Fraternity and Sorority Life at Villanova |
Fraternity and Sorority Life (FSL) offers an involvement opportunity for Villanova students. As you and your student gather information about the fraternity and sorority community, you're invited to explore the Office of Fraternity and Sorority Life webpage and flipbook. Students can explore interest through their first semester; actual new member processes begin in the spring semester for first-year students. We also encourage you to register for and attend the FSL 101 Parent & Family Webinar on Monday, Sept. 23 at 7 p.m. ET. This webinar will provide an overview of Fraternity and Sorority Life, including intake/recruitment processes, departmental services, leadership development and more.

Villanova students, faculty, staff and alumni use phrases, acronyms and other terms in communication and during events. We thought you might want to get in the loop, too!
"Nova Nook" is a Villanova resource that provides necessities to students in need in a safe and discreet manner. The Nook, located on the second floor of Dougherty Hall, inventories toiletries, non-perishable food items and other necessities. Through a simple process, students in need of items may order online and pick up the items at their convenience. To learn more about the Nook, please visit their page.

JOMO—the Joy of Missing Out—is a campus initiative focused on Villanovans connecting offline. Inspired by research that demonstrates putting cell phones away significantly reduces the disruptive impact that they have on the ability to focus and be present with one another (in addition to the national and campus data expressing the need for student communication skill development and students' desires to become less dependent on their phones), the Office of Health Promotion and Learning Support Services have placed Tech Break boxes and cell phone "sleeping bags" in Donahue Dining Hall (South Campus), Falvey Library Holy Grounds and various other locations around campus.

Villanova Makes First Year House Calls!
Each September, more than 150 Villanova University faculty, staff and administrators visit first-year students in their residence halls through a program called "House Calls." We will also host a Commuter Student Check-in on Friday, Sept. 20 at noon in the Presidents' Lounge (invitation sent by email to commuters).
By participating, first-year students are eligible for a drawing of one of the following prizes:
