On June 2, Hebrew College hosted more than 300 in-person & virtual guests from around the country at our Centennial spring event: "Remember. Renew. Reimagine." The celebration included joyful music led by Hebrew College rabbinical and cantorial students and alumni, remarks and blessings by President Rabbi Sharon Cohen Anisfeld for our honorees—Mark Atkins & Miho Sato, Jack Eiferman, Deborah Feinstein, and Myra Musicant & Howard Cohen—and panel discussions on the College's history and educating for the future with Hebrew College faculty and alumni.

Introducing Hiddushim: Hebrew College's Centennial Volume

A Centennial, writes Hebrew College President Rabbi Sharon Cohen Anisfeld, “is an invitation to reﬂect on the last century of teaching and learning at Hebrew College, to ask ourselves what has changed and what has endured, to explore accomplishments and share ongoing struggles, to articulate our aspirations for the next one hundred years.” In Ḥiddushim, Hebrew College's just-released centennial volume edited by Dr. Michael Fishbane, Rabbi Art Green and Dr. Jonathan Sarna, read a compilation of essays on Jewish studies alongside powerful personal memoirs from the College’s earliest years until today.

I have always been fascinated by the Nazirite vow, described in this week’s parsha. It is so deeply personal. You choose to become a Nazir, you choose the terms of how long it will last, and then you perform a ritual to release yourself from the binds of the vow. The vow offers you a concrete structure to restrict yourself in relation to the physical world—no wine, no haircuts—in order to be more deeply in relationship to the divine. . . . .

Talmud for Teens

In Hebrew College Teen Beit Midrash (TBM), teens tackle big questions by puzzling out ancient texts. TBM is an intimate, challenging, pluralistic, and inclusive space for teens to study Talmud together either in person at Hebrew College in Newton or virtually on Zoom with teens across the country.
