2021 ISTEP+ TESTING PART 1 AND PART 2
FEBRUARY 2-3
Brebeuf Jesuit will participate in Part 1 and Part 2 of the ISTEP+ testing for Spring 2021 on Tuesday, February 2 and Wednesday, February 3. The Class of 2022 (Juniors) is the only class participating in this assessment. These exams are required by law for graduation from Indiana accredited high schools. More information on state tests can be found at the IDOE Office of Student Assessment website.
ALL Class of 2022 members must attempt the ISTEP exams in person in order to meet Indiana graduation requirements.
Brebeuf Jesuit will test all juniors in the building on these days. All other classes will meet fully virtually according to the rotation schedule posted by Brebeuf Jesuit. Students need their computers with the secure browser installed, a computer charger, and a pencil for scrap work, but otherwise, no other materials.
Students should complete their MyMedBot survey prior to school entry. All regular protocols for illness are to be followed.
The cafeteria will be open on testing days for lunch. Students may also bring their own lunch. Breaks will be provided. Students are also welcome to bring a covered water bottle/container to testing. Room assignments were emailed to students and will be posted throughout the building beginning Friday, January 29.
Students have received directions for testing software downloads from the IT Department. Please check with your student that they have followed the directions for downloading the secure browser required for testing.
Tuesday, February 2
Regular time testing will begin at 8:30 a.m. and finish around 1:30 p.m.
Extended time testing will begin at 8:30 a.m. and finish around 3:30 p.m.

DISCUSSING TEENAGE DEPRESSION AND RESOURCES AVAILABLE TO STUDENTS
Did you know that one in five teens experience at least one episode of depression before they reach adulthood? Over the past week, our School Social Worker, Mrs. Pollak, has been going to each of the freshman World Civilization classes to do an interactive, hour-long presentation on teenage depression and the mental health resources that are available here at Brebeuf Jesuit.
The program utilizes tools from Erika's Lighthouse, a nonprofit out of Chicago, to educate our freshmen about the signs and symptoms of depression, and when and how to ask for help for themselves or a friend.

MLK CONVOCATION STUDENT REFLECTIONS
On January 15, 2021, Brebeuf Jesuit's Black Student Union hosted our annual MLK Convocation. Unfortunately, due to technical difficulties, our freshman reflections, shared by Arianaa Doakes '24 and Jamar Williams '24, were inaudible.
Their words and experiences hold much weight and are valuable to the inclusive atmosphere that we are working daily to enhance at Brebeuf Jesuit. For your reflection, we offer them both here.
Thank you to Arianaa and Jamar for sharing with our community.

BLUES WEEK MOVED TO FEBRUARY
Blues Week will now take place from February 16-19. This scheduling change will help us ensure that we have a balanced week of the hybrid schedule and allow students attending Kairos to be present during Blues Week.

BREBEUF HOCKEY BEGINS ROAD TO STATE
Brebeuf Hockey took on St. Xavier in a great Jesuit high school match-up on Friday, January 22. Fr. Bill, an alum and former President of St. Xavier, welcomed both teams and said a prayer before the start of the game. Of course, he proudly wore maroon and gold!
Also, Midnight Madness Drive-by Edition was a huge success! Lots of Braves cheered on the team before their Saturday game against the Bloomington Blades. Thank you to all those who came to support the team as they started on the road to the playoffs and the State title game in March!
Brebeuf Hockey will celebrate seniors Sam Perkins, Ryan Witchger, Luke Eckerle, and Colton Jung on Saturday, January 30 at 8:15 p.m. Although only family and designated guests will be allowed at the game due to COVID restrictions, we encourage our Brave community to wish them luck! Go Braves!
