We are excited to welcome your students to campus this quarter! As the fall quarter begins to unfold, we want to highlight some important campus resources to help students through their time at UCSB. Below is additional information on health and wellbeing resources.

(805) 893-4411
Counseling & Psychological Services (CAPS) is committed to providing timely, culturally appropriate, and effective mental health services to our diverse UCSB student body with no fee at the time of service. The university registration fee covers the cost of counseling. Encourage your student to contact them whenever necessary.
- Student Mental Health Coordination Services
The Student Mental Health Coordination Services (SMHCS) office is the single point of contact for the campus community to report concerns about a student in distress or a student distressing others. As the department that collects all information regarding distressed student concerns, SMHCS Coordinators are able to construct a holistic picture of how referred students are functioning and connect them with appropriate campus resources. As a non-clinical office, SMHCS is able to collaborate with other departments on campus to provide coordination of care, interventions, social support, and follow-up services from a network of campus resources. Use the Refer a Gaucho form if you are concerned for you student.
- Campus Advocacy, Resources & Education
(805) 893-4613
Campus, Advocacy, Resources, and Education (CARE) is UC Santa Barbara’s confidential advocacy and education office for interpersonal violence (sexual violence, relationship violence, and stalking). We offer free and confidential services for students, staff, faculty, alumni, community members, and friends/loved ones impacted interpersonal and gender-based violence and we provide violence prevention education for the entire UCSB campus. Encourage your student to contact a CARE advocate if they ever experience any form of interpersonal violence.
- Alcohol & Drug Program
(805) 893-5013
The UCSB Student Health Alcohol & Drug Program (ADP) is dedicated to providing all students with a free, confidential and safe place to discuss anything related to substance use and/or other addictive behaviors. Staffed by licensed behavioral health therapists and prevention specialists, ADP offers a safe, healthy, and learning-conducive environment through the promotion of healthy choices regarding the use of alcohol, nicotine, and other drugs. The program utilizes evidence-based, harm-reduction strategies and focuses on reducing high-risk behavior and encouraging personal and community safety and responsibility. If your student would like to learn more about these services, have them contact ADP directly.
- Health and Wellness
Students’ health and wellbeing is embedded in the campus culture and valued as integral to everyone’s success at UC Santa Barbara and post-graduation. Health & Wellness is committed to supporting a diverse campus environment and the growth of students as they navigate the University experience for academic success and a fulfilling life. All of our events are open to the whole UCSB student body, and we encourage students to participate in our services.
